This was the view from my hotel room in Nashville yesterday. I opened my eyes and the lyrics to 10,000 Reasons came to mind immediately:

The sun comes up

It's a new day dawning

Whatever may pass

And whatever lies before me

When the evening comes

What was lying before me did, in fact, come to pass. I woke up with my girl sleeping next to me, curled up like she did when she was little. We used to play this silly little game . She would run into my bed in the mornings before school and we would hide under the sheets pretending nobody could find us and that she didn’t have to go to school.

I watched this young woman, still my little girl, sleep for a bit like I did when she was a baby. So much older and wiser but still so young.

You see, the sun came up on a new day for her and it came up on a new city, her new home. It came to pass.....Ansley now lives in Nashville. This isn’t college any more, nope, today I wake up in Atlanta knowing that one of my children has officially launched and is on her way. Once again the clash of emotions causes a mama’s heart to be a bit disoriented.

She’s ready. A new townhouse. Set! A new sublease until Oct. Set! A new 2nd grade classroom....well....let’s say it’s coming together.

A new fiancé who loves her. A new family who loves her. And a new staff and faculty who don’t know her well but are loving her SO well as she prepares for her first job.

So, the launch came to pass and I was indeed singing when the day came to an end.
